Good-bye 2008...

Well, here it is the 31st of December. Another year has quickly come to an end. All in all...it has been a good year....with the exception of my parent's car accident and Mother's health as a result. Things can only get better for her.

I'm working tonight, New Year's Eve, as I have the last 2 years. I do hope it's busy...and they don't keep me there too late. I have to open in the morning. Sometimes, being the oldest has it's advantages...I usually get sent home first.

No NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS...I do have a few ideas for improvements in the back of my head...but at this time...it changes by the hour. I would really like to keep a cleaner house...use up some of my yarn stash, and enjoy each and every day!!!

Oh yes...I forgot to tell you...I'm going to be a grandma AGAIN...this time it's my youngest son! A little boy sure would be nice...but it just doesn't matter as long as everyone is HEALTHY!!!!

Here's a picture of my latest project...an afghan for my neighbor's great grand-baby. I really need to get busy on this one...the baby is due in 2 weeks. Still several orders to fill....the holidays will soon be over with and I can concentrate of getting everything finished!!

In the meantime...HAPPY NEW YEAR...and be safe out there!!!

Merry Christmas!

Well now...in just a few hours, we'll be on our way to "The States". We're spending Christmas in Saginaw with my parents this year. My youngest son, Jeremy, and his significant other, Shauna, are joining us on Christmas Eve. Should be fun...it's been a long time since I've spent the holidays with my family. I wish my oldest son and his family could be there as well!!
It's been a busy day. Had an appointment with the chiropractor first thing this morning, and my back is healing nicely. Still very uncomfortable, but now it's just a waiting game. After my appointment, I went over for a "cuppa" tea with my elderly friend Jeanie, and polished off a plate of sausage rolls. They are soooooo good...but I think she doubled the garlic this time. After our visit, I came home to do some baking. Managed to get a blueberry pie and 2 pumpkin pies done before noon, and started on a batch of thumbprint cookies and 2 loaves of banana nut bread. I'm done....no more baking this year.
After dinner...John and I had eggnog milk shakes. And, of course, to make them properly, you have to over-load them with coconut rum. They're awesome!!!! A nice treat!!
I haven't crocheted in several days, and I'm starting to have "withdrawals". I have so many orders to fill!!! But...since Oggie Dog isn't coming with us tomorrow, I'll be able to crochet on the way down. His place on every road trip is on my lap...makes crocheting difficult. But... I'll miss him!!! He's visiting his best buddy Ryan, the Sheltie, for a few days. And I'm sure he'll have a great time!! (Probably more fun than we'll have!!)
Well, better get to bed! MERRY CHRISTMAS! And be safe out there! I'll see you in a few days....

'Tis The Season....

Every year I make the same resolution...to be ready for the holidays by the 1st of December. What a joke! I'm beginning to realize just how over rated the Christmas season is. We need to get back to basics, and re-discover the meaning of the season.

Have you watched television lately??? No wonder the world is depressed this time of year. We watch the old movies...where everyone is gathered around the tree....while Grandma is in the kitchen preparing the holiday meal. Home made baked goods are strategically placed throughout the house...and everyone is dressed in their "Sunday best". Does this happen any more??? Believe it or not, I can remember growing up with this type of holiday gathering....back in the late 50's. Now, everything is so commercial....there are no values. We are a selfish society.

I feel better now!!! But...I will make the same resolution for next year....maybe I'll just win the battle and actually SUCCEED!!!!!

Time to get back to my baked goods...I'm working on some brownies. Stop on over for a "cuppa joe".
