Farewell To January....

It's the last day of January...a bittersweet love affair. January....a new beginning of yet another year...and one month closer to spring. All positive things...time has a way of movin' on, doesn't it?

Speaking of time...I received a "nasty" email this afternoon. It has alot to do with the picture in this post. It's the emblem of the high school I graduated from. St. Clair High...the graduating class of 1970. The Mighty, Mighty Saints!! Any clues yet??? You're close...this is the year of my 40th class reunion. Yes, this "chick" is gettin' old...but never too old!!!! ;) I'd like to go...it's been a long time since I've seen anyone and several of my classmates are no longer with us. Will keep you posted as time goes on. I'd like to drop about 20 pounds for this milestone...wish me luck!!

I'm now off for the next 4 days...nothing special planned. Tonight I'm going to lounge in my chair and see how long it takes me to "drift" off. I stayed up far too late last night...and I'm tired. Will I stay awake for the Grammy Awards??? It's doubtful...but stranger things have happened!!!

I'm off to my chair.....

SOLD!!!

Not alot of news here on the home front. I think I mentioned that our neighbor backed into the side of our car just before Christmas. Well, we got it back today and it looks like new! A beautiful job! Glad that little episode is history!!!

John's on the way to the post office. He needs to fax an offer on a house we like in Brockville. It's in need of work...alot of it...but well worth it....water front property. This is a counter offer...eventually someone will back down.

Started another pair of crocheted mittens last night. This time in a robin's egg blue. They're a surprise for one of my customer's at the restaurant. I commented on her scarf...and she mentioned how she wish she knew how to knit or crochet so she could have a matching pair of mitts.

Sold a hat to Melissa in British Columbia. Two toned purple with a nice big flower!! Hope she enjoys it!!!

Stay warm...it's damn cold out there. I'm gonna go curl up in my chair and catch alittle afternoon t.v.

Until next time.... :)

Can You Imagine.....

Can you imagine snow this deep??? WOW!! I don't know where I found this picture...so I can't give credit where credit is due. But...thank goodness we've had a mild winter. The freezing rain we were promised has finally arrived...it's hitting the window as I speak. Snow, wind, rain and ice...such a good afternoon to stay inside!!!

I left work as it started to rain...and the ice in the parking lot was as slick as glass. Do I need to say more?? Have you ever seen a beached whale try to make it's way back to the water? Well picture this as you think of me making my way to the car!!! I cut my knee and the palms of my hands. What a bitch!! I want to crochet...but my fingers hurt!! (Whiner!)

I'm off for the next four days...and looking forward to some "down time". I do have to clean for Mr. Short tomorrow morning...but other than that, the time is MINE!!!

I'll talk to ya later...hope your Sunday is all you want it to be!!!

Check It Out....

Not too impressed with the upcoming forecast...I don't know about you...but I'm not a real big fan of the winter months...and surely NOT of ice rain.

It's been a busy week!! We took a trip to Brockville...and looked at 3 houses. Fell in love with one...and the one that needed the most work. But...it didn't quite work out...at least not for the time being. Too much red tape...but you just never know where your luck is, right??

I've been doing some crocheting...and actually got out my knitting needles for awhile. Still working on some dish cloths...just to use up some odds and ends of cotton yarn. Did I tell you I sold 2 of my hats??? AWESOME!!! Gotta love eBay!!

Until next time....keep smilin'!!

Hmmmmmmm.....

Let me think...nothing of real importance going on at the moment. I've been crocheting...using up some odds and ends of cotton yarn for dish cloths. After this is done, will start working on an afghan for daughter-in-law #2.

Heading to Brockville next week....about 8 hours south of here. There are 2 houses that have caught our interest....both now owned by the bank....and the price is right. Country living and "room to grow"....wonder what the future holds???????

Here's a picture of another hat I finished. This particular tam turned our very nice...made with a mohair blend yarn...cranberry in color. Love the pattern!! But...I'm in the "market" for a new model. This particular "chick" looks pretty washed out and it's difficult to focus the camera on the exact color of the yarn. Think I'd go "snoop" around eBay and see what I can find that fits my budget.

Hope this finds everyone healthy and happy....no complaints here!!

Blue Skies....

What a great day!! Not a cloud in the sky! Always does me a world of good to see that sun shine!! Brightens up the ol' attitude!!

Here's one of the hats I finished. Lovely purple color..almost an amethyst! It's in my eBay store-- go check it out when you have time!! http://stores.ebay.ca/Debeeedos-New-To-You-Shop

Haven't been doing much the past few days. Took down our Christmas decorations...and it was really kind of sad. Our tree was so pretty this year...a larger one and we splurged on new ornaments. But...we weren't at home very often...so really didn't get much of a chance to enjoy it!! Next year, right??

John had a dental appointment with the oral surgeon this afternoon. He needs a new crown...it's either that or loose a tooth. He went with the crown. Smart man!! I'm due for a cleaning...something I have done every 3 months. Next week!!

Back to work tomorrow. I'll be working all week--as one of the other girls' requested some time off. Not looking forward to it...but they have all worked for me at one time or another. It's just a week...what goes around comes around!!

One of my regular customers at the restaurant mentioned she could use a pair of mitts. Time to go dig through my "stash" and see what I can come up with!!

Keep smilin'!! Have a great day!!

Waiting...

I'm waiting for our January thaw...but from the weather report...it doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon!! Guess we'll have to make the best of it, right?? We're on a downhill slide now...the days are getting longer...and before we know it, the snow will be melting!! YES!!!!

VERY quiet at work today....and has been for the last few days. People either AREN'T spending or have spent it all over the holidays. I'm picking up a few shifts over the next few weeks--several actually. I'll be putting my extra cash in my "HIDE-A-MONEY FUND"...Christmas 2010. But this is the year of the Homemade Christmas, remember??? So, I'm hoping I won't have to touch my stash of cash for much of anything.

Worked on the dish cloth for my the daughter-in-law...didn't get too far with it--maybe 2 inches. I ended up taking a little bit of a nap--the crochet hook was still in my hand when I woke up! Good intentions, right?? I'll park my butt in front of the t.v. tonight and give it another try.

Made my first pair of crocheted mitts for a special order before Christmas....and what fun! They turned out very nice. They're long and very thick...need that up here in Northern Ontario. Check 'em out!

Better think about taking down some of my Christmas decorations. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!!! See you soon....

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!! May 2010 bring you good health, happiness and PEACE!!! A new year...how quickly the time passes....

Any resolutions for the new year? I don't make any...as I usually disappoint myself. However...I want this to be an "efficient" year...a "yes" year. I always have these wonderful ideas and plans...but never seem to follow through. Nothing major...just need motivation and to feel positive. I'd like to drop a few pounds...get rid of some clutter...and use up a good deal of my yarn I have stashed in my basement. And...I've been wanting to have a "homemade" Christmas for years. Will this be the "YES" year??? I'm going to do my best...

We certainly had a busy holiday season. We traveled to Brockville the week of Christmas...spent a few days with John's parents. Had a very nice time! Came home for a few days, and then went to Michigan to deliver Christmas gifts to my boys and their families. It was so nice to spend some casual time with them...watch the grand-daughters play...and enjoy each other's company. It was really a special time!!!

And now...I'm tired...a good night to relax and crochet. My daughter-in-law needs some dish cloths...and I'm sure I have a skein or two of cotton yarn! Get the picture?? :)
